The Cranberries have received their first-ever Grammy nomination.
The Limerick band were announced among the nominees for Best Rock Album this afternoon.
Their final album, ‘In the End’ was released earlier this year as a tribute to late-singer Dolores O’Riordan.
It features O’Riordan’s vocals gleaned from demos she recorded before her death in February of last year.
The first single from In the End was released on the anniversary of her passing with the album itself hitting the shelves in April of this year.
The Best Rock Album nominees are:
- Amo — Bring Me the Horizon
- Social Cues — Cage the Elephant
- In the End — The Cranberries
- Trauma — I Prevail
- Feral Roots — Rival Sons
Singer Lizzo leads the way in this year’s nominations with eight to her name. She is followed closely by Billy Eilish and Lil Nas X with six each.
The nominees will now be put to a vote among members of the Recording Academy, with winners set to be announced on January 26th.
Recording Academy CEO Deborah Dugan said: “I am in complete awe of the inspiring nominees who have poured their hearts and souls into their craft, and in turn, have provided fans worldwide a year of music that changed us, stirred our emotions and inspired us to do more.”
The awards ceremony will be hosted Alicia Keys and broadcast live from the Staples Centre in LA.
