Four people have died and four others were injured after a crane collapse in downtown Seattle.
Officials say it happened on Fairview Avenue and Mercer Street in the South Lake Union area of the city at around 3:30pm on Saturday afternoon.
Local news station KIRO 7 reports that the property being developed will house apartments and a Google campus.
The crane fell from the roof of a building and damaged a six vehicles.
Three men and one woman were killed.
Two of those killed were in the crane, while the other two victims were in different vehicles.
A four-month-old baby girl was among the four others injured - however none of the injuries are said to be life threatening.
Seattle Fire Department said a "full and thorough investigation" into the collapse.
The city's mayor said it was a "catastrophic incident".
Jenny Durkan said: "My heart breaks for those who lost loved ones today, and we are praying for strength for those injured.
“We also saw some miracles, including a mother and her young child whose car was struck by the crane but survived.
"We are seeing our community come together in the face of tragedy and provide comfort to each other."
The developer of the Seattle property said their deepest sympathies are with the families of those who died.
Vulcan Inc said: "Our hope is that those who have been injured return to full health as soon as possible."
Their statement adds that their contractors are "fully cooperating" with the authorities investigating the incident.
