The Russian and Ukrainian crew of a freighter ship stranded in Dublin since before Christmas because of a financial dispute are to be paid 250 thousand euro in arrears and allowed to return home.

The vessel, the MV Clipper Faith, was arrested by a bank in the Netherlands in March after its London-based owners defaulted on a mortgage.

The 17 sailors had not been paid their wages since last December - and half of them left the boat in February believing they would never be paid.

The International Transport Federation intervened to resolve the row and ensure that the crew will be paid their arrears in full.
