The five-month-old was in the car at the time. The car was hijacked by a man who was not known to the baby or her family.

A CRI alert was issued just before 4pm. Gardaí said she was found "safe and well" around 20 minutes later.

The car was found on Richmond Road just after 4pm.

Gardaí are searching for the man who has been described as a white, middle-aged man wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap.

An incident room has been set up at Mountjoy Garda station and officers are examining CCTV footage.
