French officials will hold crisis talks with food industry representatives later to discuss the horse meat crisis after contaminated food was found in its supermarkets.
The controversy has spread across Europe - with an abattoir in Romania identified as a possible source for the horse meat.
In the UK, retailers and food producers are testing thousands of products and the British Environment Secretary Owen Paterson will update MPs on the issue later.
