Two men have been arrested after Customs seized heroin, cocaine, ecstacy and LSD worth over €500,000 at Rosslare Europort, Co. Wexford.
As a result of routine profiling, officers from Revenue’s Customs Service seized 2.7 kilos of heroin, over a kilo of ecstasy, almost one kilo of cannabis resin and a quantity of LSD tablets.
The haul is worth more than half a million euro at €534,280
The drugs were found concealed in the fuel tank of a vehicle registered in the UK that had came off a ferry from Cherbourg.
Customs were alerted after sniffer dog Ralph, a member of Revenue’s Canine Team, reacted to the vehicle in a way that indicated drugs might be on board.
The two men in the vehicle, a Scottish man (40) and an Irishman (34), were arrested.
They are being questioned at Wexford garda station.
Investigations are ongoing.
It is the third confirmed major drug seizure today after gardaí in Co. Louth discovered €4m of heroin in a truck on the M1 near Drogheda, and investigators in Dublin arrested two men after finding €2m of cocaine at a house in Donnybrook.
