A cyberattack has taken place on the South East Technological University (SETU).
The Waterford university has experienced a cybersecurity incident targeting its Information Technology (IT) systems which its IT team moved swiftly to safeguard.
Monday’s classes at the university have been cancelled as a result of this breach.
University staff were told the campuses have been left with no internet and no access to internal emails and other online facilities.
Identified early
There is no evidence currently to suggest any data or information has been compromised.
In a statement, SETU said the incident was identified at the earliest possible stage.
The university informed relevant Government departments and authorities and is continuing to monitor the situation closely.
