A man in his 70s has died following a crash between a car and a bike on Dame Street.
It happened in Dublin city centre this morning at roughly 5.25am.
The cyclist, aged in his 70s, was seriously injured in the crash and brought to St James’ Hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the car is currently receiving medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Dame Street was closed this morning for forensic examination and has since reopened.
Gardaí in Pearse Street are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
They are particularly interested in anyone with dash-cam footage who was driving in the area at the time.
This is the 76th road death in Ireland since the beginning of the year and the fifth cyclist to die on Irish roads.
