The producer of one of RTÉ's top shows claims the broadcaster is in jeopardy unless the TV licence goes up.
Larry Bass said Dancing with the Stars might not be back on our screens unless the rate increases from the current €160.
Over half a million viewers tuned in for the current series, which finished on Sunday night with broadcaster Mairéad Ronan winning the competition.
However, Larry Bass - who is the executive producer of the hit show and CEO of the ShinAwiL production company - insists many shows are at risk if RTÉ doesn't get more funding.
Speaking on Newstalk Breakfast, he said: "I think the whole of RTÉ is in jeopardy - it's not just Dancing with the Stars.
"If RTÉ isn't correctly funded, it can't run the schedules as it's been running. The licence fee hasn't increased for over 15 years, and the licence fee that is set... there's over 20% not collected.
"It's been slowly, slowly death by a thousand cuts."
He suggested that advertising revenue has also been under "severe pressure" since the economic crash and hasn't fully recovered.
Mr Bass observed: "We have to ask ourselves do we want Irish TV and Irish people on our screens, or are we all happy with looking at UK TV, Netflix or US TV?"
