Daniel O'Donnell has said 'The Late Late Show' should be rejigged and less serious.
The Donegal singer, who has regularly appeared on the talk show, said the format should be more like Graham Norton in the UK.
It comes as the flagship RTÉ programme has seen several potential replacements for Ryan Tubridy withdraw from the race.
Daniel told The Hard Shoulder it is not an easy job to do.
"God help them whoever they are - they're dropping out like flies, all the people that were lining up for it," he said.
"I didn't rule myself in so I'm not ruling myself out.
"I really don't know who should take over The Late Late Show - it's a very difficult show to do.
"It's a very difficult show to go from talking to a politician... to go to talk to me.
"I don't know what they should do with The Late Late Show.
"Everybody's saying it's losing viewers, but I wouldn't miss it if I'm at home".
Daniel said the show needs a new approach.
"I wish good luck to whoever takes it over," he said.
"Maybe if they rejigged it and had it less serious and let some other show do a serious show, so that the audience that's on there for a bit of fun are not bored with what needs to be talked about in a serious way.
"I mean, if you look at Graham Norton... it's all fun, it's all light and it's fantastic.
"So maybe that's something that needs to be thought about for The Late Late Show," he added.
