Irish football fans have been praised by the Danish police after their weekend match in Copenhagen.

Officers say the 8,000 fans who travelled for the World Cup qualifier on Saturday are welcome to return.

“From a policing point of view, Ireland are welcome to play at the Parken [Stadium] again,” reads the Tweet.

“There were no registered incidents with football fans all night. Thank you for that.”

But the celebrations weren't without a slip of controversy.

A video has emerged online of a group of fans laughing and cheering as customers emerge from lingerie store Victoria Secret in the centre of the city.

The chain’s Copenhagen outlet is located next door to Irish bar, The Dubliner.

“There was never going to be any trouble in Copenhagen,” he said. “I think we have all seen – those of us who are on Twitter – will have seen the remarks from the Danish police saying there was absolutely no incidents at all over the weekend and there never was likely to be,” he said.
