David Drumm has been released from custody and walked out of court after his €150,000 bail package was approved.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has directed that the former CEO of Anglo Irish Bank be tried before a judge and jury on allegations of financial wrongdoing.

Mr Drumm was greeted by a scrum of photographers, TV crews and reporters as he left the Criminal Courts of Justice just after 1.30am.

He said "thanks" to those gathered but declined to comment on his case as he posed for photos at the main entrance to the building.

The former CEO of Anglo Irish Bank then left in a car that had been waiting outside.

Earlier, the court approved his in-laws as independent sureties - they agreed to secure €100,000 of his €150,000 bail package.

He is going to live at an address in Skerries, Co. Dublin and will have to sign on twice daily at his local garda station.

Mr. Drumm is facing 33 charges arising from his final years as head of Anglo Irish Bank.

They include forgery, false accounting and conspiracy to defraud. He is due back in court next month.
