Metal barriers in and around Mount Street in Dublin have cost the City Council €170,000 so far.
The fencing was erected last May, after tents for more than 200 asylum seekers were dismantled and removed from Mount Street as part of a multi-agency operation.

The barriers were then erected to stop international protection applicants from pitching tents again in the area.
Meanwhile, a vacant building in the area is set to be converted into accommodation for asylum seekers.
