Having already discussed matters like same-sex marriage and the voting system, today the 100 members of the constitutional convention discuss whether to give votes to emigrants.
The convention's been asked whether Irish citizens living abroad should be given a vote in Presidential elections - though the group may also decide to make submissions about elections to the Dail or local councils.
Most European countries offer their citizens the right to vote in elections of some sort, but Ireland has proportionately more citizens living abroad than other countries.
Delegates will have to consider whether citizens overseas should be allowed to influence domestic politics, or whether those who don't pay taxes in Ireland should give up the right to have their say.
Members will hear arguments today, before holding a final vote tomorrow. The government then has four months to respond.
