Police in Texas stormed a house looking for a burglar earlier this week - but found a frightened deer inside instead.
The incident happened in Lufkin, around 160 kilometres south of Dallas.
At around 6am on Thursday, officers responded to reports of a burglary in a home.
The homeowner had phoned the police after hearing glass break, and hid in a closet waiting for officers to arrive.
When the first officer arrived, he called for backup after discovering a broken window and hearing someone moving inside.
Meanwhile, it emerged the homeowner had left her weapon on a kitchen counter - meaning a potential thief could find it.
After backup arrive, officers used the broken window to enter the house.
However, they ultimately discovered a "very frightened" doe had managed to get into the house.
In a statement, police said: "After several minutes of 'deer wrangling' with kitchen chairs, officers shooed the doe out the front door.
"No animals or officers were seriously injured in the incident (except minor cuts from the glass)."
