The Environment Minister Alan Kelly has announced a review of building regulations in relation to new rules for one off houses.
The new rules, announced last year, saw an increased level of accountability placed on professionals signing off on new buildings.
The changes are expected to relax the rules on certification and the use of architects and engineers.
The Department of the Environment said at the time that the new rules would prevent any future re-occurrence of badly constructed dwellings.
But they have been described as "overburdensome" on people trying to build a one off home.
Speaking on Tipp FM today, Mr Kelly says he will be further reviewing the issue.
And he hopes to have it completed by the summer.
