A viable improvised explosive device has been made safe in south Dublin.
An Army Bomb Disposal Team were called to Carrigwood in Firhouse shortly before 1am.
A controlled explosion was carried out on the device which had been located beside a vehicle parked outside a private residence.

A number of residents had to be evacuated from their homes while the bomb team dealt with the device.
The area was declared safe shortly shortly after 3am.
