The Dail has heard new allegations of Gardaí failing to investigate alleged crimes involving members of the force.
The allegations were made in the chamber this afternoon, under privilege, by Clare Daly TD.
She claimed that two Gardaí were involved in alleged embezzlement of funds over a property deal in Romania.
“They had information to show that garda station fax machines were used in parts of these transactions.,” Daly told the Dáil.
But she said the alleged victims got nowhere when they tried to report the incident to the superiors of the Gardaí involved.
“The Chief Superintendent got back to them and said ‘Yes we’ll investigate your complaint’. That Chief Superintendent moved away, another one came in, they tried to chase it up and they eventually got nowhere,” Daly said.
