The price of the Disney Plus subscription service is set to increase for Irish customers from next Tuesday.
The monthly subscription price for new users will increase from €6.99 to €8.99 a month, just under a year since the service launched in Ireland.
However, the price for existing subscribers will not increase immediately, and the existing price will continue until August.
Next week's price increase will coincide with the addition of new content aimed at older audiences.
The new ‘Star’ service will be available to all Irish subscribers, and will initially feature shows such as Lost, Modern Family, Family Guy, Atlanta and Sons of Anarchy.
Films from the now Disney owned 20th Century Fox back catalogue will also be included, such as Pretty Woman, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Deadpool 2.
The new service is also set to include some original TV shows.
As part of the change, users will be prompted to set age ratings for the different profiles on their account - to ensure younger users don’t end up selecting content that is inappropriate for them.
The Star service will automatically appear on the homepage of users’ accounts from Tuesday.
Netflix also recently increased its prices for many users earlier this year, when its standard plan increased by €1 to €12.99 per month.
