With the entire world now living online, technological advances has not been lost on TD’s and Senators, the front page of the Irish Times reveals.

The Oireachtas Commission has now taken decided to go to tender to purchase tablet devices to be used by all members of the Oireachtas as well as within Leinster House.

By the end of the year, the Dáil chamber will see members accessing the text of Bills and facts in the Oireachtas Library as they debate a Bill.

More than 200 of the devices will be given free to TDs and Senators, but will have to be handed back if they lose their seat in the Dáil or Seanad.
