The Health Minister is welcoming the outcome of today's ballot by the Non Consultant Hospital Doctors members of the Irish Medical Organisation who have voted to accept proposals aimed at reducing their working hours.
In September, around 3,000 non consultant doctors withdrew their services from Irish hospitals in a one day strike to protest over the issue.
NCHD's completed their ballot on proposals earlier today with 76 per-cent voting in favour and 24 per-cent against.
The Director of Industrial Relations at the IMO, Steve Tweed, has warned that if the HSE fails to honour its commitment on this issue the IMO will escalate the campaign
Meanwhile, Minister Reilly also reiterated his "firm commitment to achieving full compliance” with the European Working Time Directive.
