It is reported that a documentary set in the aftermath of Princess Diana's death has been pulled after an intervention by Clarence House.

Reinventing the Royals was due to air at 9pm on Sunday, but is understood to have been put on hold by the BBC.

The programme was to look at the public relations tactics used to boost the image of the royal family in the wake of the 1997 Paris car crash, in which Princess Diana died.

The show was also set to include the first ever TV interview with Prince Charles' press secretary at the time, Sandy Henney.

The Radio Times has claimed the decision to pull the segment came after an intervention from lawyers known to represent senior members of the royal family.

But the BBC say the broadcast is being held back due to issues around the use of archive footage.

"The BBC is delaying broadcast of the documentary Reinventing The Royals, due to be shown on BBC Two on January 4, until later in the new year while a number of issues including the use of archive footage are resolved," the corporation said in a statement.
