An Irish magazine has made reference to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler while covering US presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The Village magazine has released the cover of its June issue.

On it, it sees Mr Trump coming off his plane with the headline: “Céad Míle Fáilte, Fascist.”

While pictured below are people seen to be greeting him, but they have moustaches reminiscent of Hitler on their faces.

The picture also makes reference to his 2014 visit to Ireland, when a harpist and officials met him on the tarmac.

On the magazine cover, a woman is pictured playing a harp in a red dress – again, with a Hitler-esque moustache.

The US Republican presidential candidate is to visit his golf resort in Co Clare later this month.

The magazine is distributed in shops all over Ireland, with a distribution of 9,000.

On the decision to publish the cover, Village editor Michael Smith told Newstalk.com: “The problem is that Trump has encouraged violence at his rallies, like Fascists do, and incited hatred against Muslims, Mexicans and Chinese.”

He added that: “Even Reagan and Bush regarded themselves as accountable for untruths; he does not.”

“Moreover, Trump has no clear policies, only policy-substitute hatreds."
