US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania have left Ireland following their five-day trip to Europe.
Before his departure this afternoon, he played a round of golf on the grounds of his hotel in Doonbeg, County Clare.
A group of 27 local school children got to meet President Trump on the course.
They also had the chance to perform a verse of My Lovely Rose of Clare for the visiting US leader.
Aideen O’Mahoney, principal of Clohanes National School, said it was "amazing".
She explained: "We didn't expect to, that was the beauty of it.
"We didn't go back there to meet him - we went back in the hope of maybe getting a wave, or seeing him in the distance.
She added: "We couldn't believe it... he wanted to meet the children. He shook hands with them, and they were just so delighted.
"It was just the fact that it wasn't planned, and it was so unexpected. It was just great."
One of the pupils described the meeting as "spectacular... a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the president".
President Trump's European trip included a formal state visit to the UK, as well as time in France to participate in events marking the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
He spent two nights in Doonbeg during his visit, and met Taoiseach Leo Varadkar after landing at Shannon Airport on Wednesday.
