British MPs have voted in favour of draft legislation that would legalise gay marriage in England and Wales.

David Cameron's plan has passed through the House of Commons despite objections from within his own party - by 366 votes to 161.

The Same Sex Couples Marriage Bill was supported by the Labour and Lib Dem leadership.
