Severve flooding has left eight dead and brought cities to a standstill in Central Europe.

Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland have all been affected.

Two people have died and several are missing in Austria, were two months worth of rain fell over the course of two days.

In the Czech capital of Prague, a state of emergency was declared after the torrential rain left six dead.

Thousands have been evacuated from the city as floodwaters continue to rise.

Vít Tůma tweeted this morning saying "perhaps the worst is behind us" as some flood barriers were dropped and the sun is shining.

The Charles Bridge, a popular tourist attraction in Prague, is currently closed to pedestrians.

And this image appears to show some diners undeterred by the rising floodwaters.

All tweets were posted with from the city of Prague over the past couple of days.
