Alcohol Action has welcomed reports today that the Government has agreed in principle to ban alcohol sponsorship of sports.
Its believed the coalition will agree a set of measures that would break the links between alcohol and the sports industry but would make up the lost revenue through a special tax on alcohol or exchequer grants.
According to reports in the Sunday Business Post today, the ban is unlikely to come into operation for some years under a phasing out basis.
