Dublin Airport has been asked to release the results of all tests it has done on long-lasting chemicals known as PFAS.
It comes after the DAA told an Oireachtas Committee last year that only 'low levels' had been found.
Fingal County Council has asked the DAA to provide results of levels of P-FAS chemicals - some of which have been linked to increasing levels of cancer.
It is the latest bone of contention between the council and the airport - as the latter tries to get the passenger cap expanded.
Firefighting foams can be a major source of these chemicals; however, the Irish Independent reports although they have not been used by airport firefighters since 2013, there could still be historical contamination on the ground.
Fingal County Council says it has issued the notice to the airport after receiving two reports on the substances from the Environmental Protection Agency.
