The revised budget does away with a plan to cut 6 million Euro from homeless services.

It also drops a plan to increase local authority rents by 7 per cent.

Fianna Fail councillors voted against the budget after a promise to direct 80 percent of the property tax collected in Dublin City to the city council was dropped.

In the end the budget was carried by 33 votes in favour, 14 against and two abstentions.

Councillor Mary Fitzpatrick described the budget as "an insult to the people of Dublin":However, there's been a broad welcome to a U turn by Dublin City Council on proposed cuts to homeless services.
