Dublin City Council is being asked to help block a Love Ulster march from taking place in the capital.
The Loyalist parade is planned for later this month - but a motion will be put to councilors tonight, which says the march poses a severe threat to safety and should be called off.
The route would take hundreds of marchers down O'Connell Street towards Leinster House on Kildare Street.
It is being planned by prominent Loyalist Willie Frazer, who is unhappy that the Irish government has asked the European Court of Human Rights to re-examine the case of the 'hooded men', who say they were tortured by British soldiers.
A similar march in 2006 saw over a dozen people taken to hospital and 41 people arrested after an outbreak of violence.
The outcome of the vote this evening is not legally binding as Dublin City Council has no authority over the event.
However Councillor Jim O'Callaghan, who is tabling the motion, thinks it is a symbolic gesture.
Speaking in December, Mr Frazer said the march is about justice.
