Dublin criminal 'Fat' Freddie Thompson has been jailed for 20 months for starting a vicious brawl in a city pub.
The 34-year-old of Loreto Road, Maryland, was extradited from Amsterdam last year to face the charge of violent disorder at Morrissey's pub on Cork Street in January 2013.
The court heard the pub brawl was sparked by a slagging match. Freddie Thompson reacted by throwing a punch and a bottle.
The fight in Morrissey's kicked off, others got involved and it became 'quite serious' .
The Dublin criminal known as 'Fat' Freddie is not the only person to have been done for violent disorder following the incident but he was described in court as the instigator.
He was detained on a European Arrest Warrant in Amsterdam last May and agreed to be extradited back to Dublin where he entered an early guilty plea to the charge.
The 34 year old who has 29 previous convictions has been in custody ever since.
His barrister Michael O'Higgins offered an apology on his client's behalf but in mitigation argued that Mr Thompson had faced up to the matter four square without whingeing.
Judge Martin Nolan imposed a 20 months sentence which he backdated to last May.
Freddie Thompson thanked the judge, gave friends and family a thumb's up and returned to custody.
