A locum doctor has gone on trial accused of sexually assaulting two female patients at a Dublin clinic last year. The GP who cannot be named, denies the charges which date to 19th and 20th of February, 2013
Opening the case for the prosecution, Melanie Greally SC said the women will claim he felt their breasts.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard the first incident is alleged to have taken place when a woman (22) was given a throat, ear and chest examination when she presented at the practice with flu-like symptoms.
The woman has now begun giving evidence and has so far told the jury that the way the GP ran his fingers very gently up the length of her arm seemed inappropriate and made her feel very uncomfortable.
It is alleged that during this examination her shirt was completely unbuttoned and the doctor touched her breast.
The court heard she left the clinic feeling distressed and reported the incident to the gardai later that day after talking it over with her friends.
The second sexual assault is alleged to have happened the following day.
The prosecution has told the jury in this instance, the woman in her 40s, was angry and confronted the doctor about his actions there and then - a confrontation allegedly observed by the clinic's receptionist and two patients in the waiting room.
The case is expected to last four to five days.
