There has been extensive damaged caused to a garage in Ringsend in Dublin following a fire overnight.

The alarm was raised at around 2.30am at Ashmore Ryder at Fitzwilliam Quay.

Five units of the fire brigade spent an hour and a half tackling the blaze.

It's understood residents of a nearby apartment block had to be evacuated for a time.

There are no reports of any injuries, but up to eight cars were burned.
