Gardai are waiting to interview a hospital patient about a bomb which destroyed a car in Dublin city on Sunday night.
It was placed in a car at Long Lane in Dublin 8 beside the former Meath Hospital.
According to the Irish Independent, the suspect was admitted to the Mater Hospital with serious injuries to his face and upper body having been taken there in a taxi.
The scene has been examined by gardai & the army
Gardai would like to speak to a taxi driver who they believe picked up a man at around 11pm Sunday at the New Street-Clanbrassil Street junction heading towards St. Patrick's Catherdal.
Gardai say the detonation of a high grade explosive caused the car to go up in flames at around that time on Sunday night.
The blast caused damage to nearby cars and properties.
Officers do not believe subversives were behind the attack and are blaming it on a crime gang.
