Visitors to Dublin will have an easier way to get around on public transport. A new Leap Card has been launched that will help holidaymakers to get from the airport into the city.

It will give them unlimited access to Bus, Luas and DART services for three days at a cost of €19.50.

The card is only available from Dublin Airport Leap Card outlets.

The product will be marketed and promoted to intending visitors to Dublin online and at the airport arrivals area. The National Transport Authority (NTA) says it received strong support received from the EU's INTERREG-SITE project (Smart Integrated Ticketing for Europe), which has contributed funding to it.

The Leap scheme is seen as a big success across the capital, with Dubliners purchasing 550,000 cards to date and over 1 million trips a week taken using the system.

The NTA has also launched a specialist product for students at language schools in the Dublin area.

The Leap Trainee Card will be available to trainees through their language schools and directly from Dublin Bus, in 1-week, 2-week, 3-week and 4-week versions.

Similar to the Leap Visitor card, it will allow foreign students travel on Luas, DART, and Irish Rail short-hop zone and on Dublin Bus.

The Chief Executive of the NTA is Gerry Murphy. He says it is good value for anyone flying into Dublin.
