A Dublin man has been jailed for 3 years for threatening to kill a woman and put her in the boot of his car. Thomas McConnell of Dunemer Rise in Lusk was also given an extra 2 years for possession of the head shop drug 'snow blow'.

Mr. McConnell winked at his family after his sentence was handed down this afternoon. The father of one had admitted waiting for 28-year-old Louise Sheridan outside her son's school in Ballymun on August 23rd 2011.

She spotted him but nothing happened until she arrived home to see him parked outside her house. He was looking for someone else and when she told him she did not know where he was, he jumped out of his car and opened the boot.

He showed her a hammer and a steel pole and threatened to kill her before speeding off after warning her he would be back later. He never returned but the victim was left shaken and feared for her life - so much so that she soon moved address.

After considering a Victim Impact Report Judge Patricia Ryan sentenced McConnell to 6 years in prison but she suspended the final 3.

Separately she handed down a 2 year sentence after Gardai found over €16,000 of the drug 'snow blow' at his home in October 2010.
