A man has been jailed for five years for his part in a vicious assault on two American tourists who were trying to stop a robbery in the Temple Bar area of Dublin.

Anthony Clifford of Mourne Road in Drimnagh pleaded guilty to two counts of violent disorder on April 29th, 2012.

One of his victims - a New York stock broker - was permanently scarred in the face during the attack while the other suffered a broken arm.
