A Dublin man has been jailed for three years for a mugging three people at knife-point during a rampage in Swords.
Michael Geoghegan of Ormond View, Swords Manor, Swords, also threatened to stab a garda who chased him down afterwards.
Geoghegan carried out the muggings on three random women at about 9am on the morning of August 18th last year.
One woman was on her way to work when he came up behind her and put his arm around her neck.
She saw the blade of his knife and gave him whatever cash she had on her.
Another woman had just arrived at work in a local supermarket when he threatened her with the knife.
She managed to get away when a colleague of hers startled him.
He threatened to stab a third woman if she didn't give him the contents of her handbag.
Aside from the large kitchen knife, he also admitted producing an iron drill bit and a knife while resisting arrest.
He was sentenced to four years in prison today, with the final year suspended.
