This year's Oktoberfest event in Dublin has been cancelled due to what have been described as "unprecedented" increases in the festival's insurance premium.
The 10th anniversary of the Dublin festival was marked last year, with the festivities taking place over 20 days at George's Dock.
In a statement posted on Facebook, however, organisers said they were disappointed to confirm this year's planned festival has been called off.
They said: "As much as we love coming to Dublin and doing our event with you guys the 2019 event cannot go ahead due to unprecedented increases in our insurance premium.
"In Germany we are not used to the claim culture that has developed in Ireland and therefore we have decided to take a break this year.
The statement adds: "The belief that putting in an insurance claim doesn’t hurt anyone except the insurance company is incorrect - consequently great fun events like ours find it hard to go ahead when suspect insurance claims from a small minority of people can ruin it for everybody."
However, they told supporters of the festival to "look forward" to Oktoberfest 2020, suggesting the festival will return to Dublin next year.
In previous years the Dublin event has run simultaneously with the original Oktoberfest in Munich - from mid-September to early October.
As well as a large beer hall, the annual event typically features German music and food.
