The Dublin Rape Centre says its website was hacked last night, after a banner relating to Islamic State appeared on its homepage.
However the DRCC says it was part of an overall Wordpress hack and the website was not targeted directly.
Speaking to Independent.ie, CEO Ellen O'Malley-Dunlop said the act was "horrible", and she hopes visitors to the site last night were not upset.
She explained, "It was a Wordpress hack. Wordpress are aware of it. They've updated us, made us more secure and given us new passwords."
The banner has since been taken down.
Hi all just to say drcc website wasn't hacked specifically it was a wordpress hack. Thankfully we've now been able to remove the banner!
