A Dublin salon owner has appeared in court after being charged for breaching coronavirus legislation.

It's alleged that C and N Beauty Rooms on Dublin Street in Balbriggan opened this morning.

Salon owner Christine McTiernan (48) of Ashfield Rise in Balbriggan was arrested when Gardaí arrived a short time later.

She appeared before Swords District Court this afternoon, charged under the Health Act for opening her business.

She was released on bail to appear before Balbriggan District Court on March 25th.

Yesterday, Ms McTiernan told Newstalk she planned to open her doors because she could no longer survive without earning a living.

Gardaí said they were continuing to adopt the 'Four Es' approach to policing public health regulations - "engage, explain, encourage, and as a last resort, enforce".
