Irish Rail says it will fully investigate an incident at a DART station in which a Dublin woman lost her leg.
It is understood the 30-year-old fell into a gap between the platform and a train at Tara Street station.
She subsequently needed to have her leg amputated below the knee.
The woman was part of a group that had left one of the carriages on Sunday night.
It happened just as the train she got off was pulling out of the station.
'Tragic accident'
The Irish Independent says the driver was unaware that the woman had fallen and closed the doors and continued on his journey to the next stop.
Emergency services were sent to the scene, but one of her legs was so badly injured that it had to be amputated.
The woman who is believed to be from south Dublin was with a group of about 15 friends who were travelling together.
Barry Kenny from Irish Rail says it is a tragic accident and that the thoughts of the company are with her.
