A Dublin man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with directing the activities of a crime group in Ireland and outside the State.
Twenty-seven-year-old David Callaghan of Harelawn Park, Clondalkin, was arrested at a different address in west Dublin this morning.
Mr Callaghan's arrest follows an investigation by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.
He was charged with directing the activities of a criminal organisation in and outside the State from April 2021 to February 2022.
During a hearing at Blanchardstown District Court, a Garda said Mr Callaghan made no reply to the charge after caution and was handed a copy of the charge sheet.
Due to the nature of the charge, any bail application would have to be made in the High Court.
Mr Callaghan has not yet indicated a plea and he remained silent during the proceedings.
A Garda told the judge an application would be made under the Bail Act section.
That requires the accused to provide a full statement with personal information, including income and property ownership.
The Judge remanded the accused to appear at Cloverhill District Court on Friday.
