People in Dublin are being urged not to take part in the traditional Christmas sea swim this year.
The HSE, gardaí and Dun Laoghaire County Council have urged people not to visit places such as the Forty Foot, Sandycove and Seapoint.
They are traditionally very busy around the 25th and 26th December, when large crowds of traditionally gather for a festive dip.
However, authorities are asking swimmers not to take part this year, as it poses a risk of COVID-19 transmission.
In a statement, authorities said: "Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, An Garda Síochána, and the HSE are keenly aware that this is a very significant request being asked of people.
"We would not be asking this if we did not consider that a large gathering would create a potential risk to public health and the spread of COVID-19.
"Personal responsibility has been a significant part of our armoury in the fight against COVID-19 and we urge you to exercise it now and to avoid creating a crowded environment over Christmas at these traditional locations."
They're instead encouraging people to visit the county's public parks instead, and to plan a swim for another day over the festive period.
