Jim McCann, a former member of folk group The Dubliners, has died aged 70.
Though a solo artist for most of his career, McCann was a member of the group from 1974 until 1979, and rejoined for their 40th reunion tour in 2002, and their 50th in 2012
McCann had been diagnosed with throat cancer during the 2002 tour.

John Sheehan, the last remaining member of the original Dubliners, spoke to the Independent on his passing:
“He had a beautiful voice. We travelled the world together and we always had great times together.”
