Dunlevy and McCrystal win Silver at 2024 Paralympics for individual pursuit

Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal have won Ireland’s second medal at the 2024 Paralympics for the B 3,000m individual pursuit. 

Cyclist Dunlevy and her pilot McCrystal finished second with a time of 3:21.315. 

The cycling duo have now won six Paralympic medals together following their final race.

They came second behind Britain’s Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl after leading for long parts of the race. 

Ms Unwin and Ms Holl set a new world record with their 3:17.643 finish at the qualifiers yesterday and recorded a time of 3:19.149 at the final.

Ms Dunlevy and Ms McCrystal also came fifth in the B 1,000-metre time trial. 

Martin Gordon and pilot Eoin Mullen cycled earlier today in the B 1000m, finishing fifth with a time of 1:01.520. 

Katie O’Brien and Tiarnán O’Donnell finished second in the PR2 mixed double sculls B final today, ranking eighth overall. 

Ms Dunley and Ms McCrystal’s victory is Ireland’s second medal at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris.

Swimmer Róisín Ní Riain secured Ireland’s first medal on Friday, earning Silver in the 100-metre backstroke with a time of 1:07.27. 

Team Ireland has 35 competitors across nine sports at this year’s Paralympic Games. 

Tomorrow, Colin Judge will compete in the Para Table Tennis round of 16, while athlete Shauna Bocquet will take on the TS4 1,500m heat.

Deaten Registe will vie for a spot in the final in the SB14 100m breaststroke. 

Chloe MacCombe & Catherine Sands and Judith MacCombe & Eimear Nicholls will both compete in the PTVI3 Para Triathlon.
