Dunnes Stores have Lidl have recalled batches of cooked chicken pieces, due to the possible presence of a dangerous bacteria.

Dunnes says it recalling all batch codes of its own-brand 'my family favourites' cooked chicken pieces and chicken tikka pieces.

Customers are being told not to eat the products, and the product is being recalled over the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) says the bacteria in question can cause symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness - and in rare cases can also cause more severe complications.

Meanwhile, batches of Glensallagh chicken pieces - which were sold in Lidl stores - have also been recalled for the same reason.

The products affected are 240g 'family pack' roast chicken and tikka-style chicken pieces, batch codes P3629 and P4629, with a use by date of 2nd October 2020.
