A DUP councillor in the North has been arrested over comments she made on Facebook about a fictitious massacre of senior republicans at an IRA commemoration parade.
Ruth Patterson apologised for her post in about the gathering in Castlederg and withdrew it after the row broke.
She said "Murder and terrorism can never be justified in any circumstances". She described the comment as flawed and "incompatible with the policies of the Democratic Unionist Party".
In a statement, the PSNI said "The Public Order Inquiry Team has arrested a 57-year-old female in relation to offences concerning the sending of grossly offensive communications and other serious criminal offences in relation to intimidation and encouraging criminal acts".
The DUP said it will be looking carefully at the issue while taking her apology into account.
The post had imagined an attack on the parade in which several people including Sinn Féin figures would be killed, where Mrs. Patterson responded "We would have done a great service to Northern Ireland and the world".
The Castlederg parade, planned for August 11th, commemorates the republican dead of Tyrone including two IRA members killed by their own bomb in 1973.
The march is backed by Sinn Féin.
However unionists have described the parade as "grossly insensitive" and say it should not be allowed to go-ahead.
Yesterday evening the Parades Commission ruled the Castlederg parade could take place but it placed restrictions on the march, re-routing it away from a war memorial in the Diamond area of the town.
