Nine Eastern European sailors – who hadn’t been paid for almost four months – are to get arrears totalling over 110,000 US dollars as their ship leaves Drogheda, Co. Louth.

The seafarers arrived in the Co. Louth port this week on board the MV Julia.

But they refused to allow a cargo of cement be loaded onto the ship in protest at not having been paid since May.

The Dutch company that owns the ship has now agreed to pay all the men’s wages.
