A 44-year-old Dutch national has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, following a fatal crash in County Waterford.
Frans Coenraad appeared before a special sitting of Waterford District Court shortly after 10pm last night.
The woman in her 40s died following the collision between a van and the car in which she was travelling, at Ballyduff West on the main Waterford to Dungarvan Road on Thursday night.
The driver of the car was also injured in the crash.
Frans Coenraad the driver of the van was arrested by investigating Gardai on Thursday night.
When charged and cautioned last night he replied that "it was an accident".
Mr Coenraad has no ties to Ireland, he had only arrived in the country on Thursday and was due to leave yesterday.
Judge Gerard Furlong refused bail on the grounds that Gardai have not had the opportunity to fully establish whether or not Mr Coenraad is a flight risk.
He was remanded in custody until Tuesday, to appear again before Waterford District Court.
